The Artist

Born in Bangor, Maine, a quiet little New England town, my first experience with the arts was in Mr. Libby’s art class. I soon became a regular attendee, swapping electives and arranging my schedule to spend as much time there as possible.

Bangor was a sleepy little town to grow up in but a “great place to raise kids”, as the saying goes

After high school and a stint in the Navy, I attended the University of Maine, Glasgow School of Art, Clydebank College, Reid Kerr College and I am currently studying photography at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

I have spent the last 20 years working with homeless and at risk young people in some capacity or another. For the most part I have used a camera as a tool to either break the ice or I have combined words with pictures to highlight the plight of homelessness and to give the homeless a voice.

I moved to Europe in the 70’s and settled in Scotland where I fell in love with the people and the country. While living in Scotland I worked as a freelance photographer and provided images on a

commissioned basis to various publications and was a member of the National Union of Journalist. I supplemented my income and my need to help by working in group home/transitional living programs for youth.

I returned to the USA in 2000 and am currently resident in Maine.
