Acadia- the landscape changes

I have been documenting the change of season in Maine. As the temperatures drop and those from away depart stuffed with lobster, their trunks full of forbidden stones from our landscape to become a feature in a rock garden somewhere in New Jersey, Acadia National Park becomes a destination for the locals. During the summer cars sporting out-of-state plates turn Acadia into a parking lot. Cruise ships fill the scenic harbors with floating hotels disrupting a perfect sunrise. This all changes in late October and early November as the atmosphere becomes Zen like, a tranquil peaceful period before the harshness of winter.

There is a unique tone to this time of year in Maine, the bright fall foliage has given way to a golden hue as the leaves make ready to begin their final journey to the ground.

My own attraction to water is apparent with the images I have chosen to include in this proposal.

I have included the rocky coast and blustery ocean which last month swept unsuspecting wave watchers off into the sea requiring the services of the Coast Guard to rescue them. It becomes apparent to the viewer that no lessons were learned!

Other images include an abandoned boat amongst the long grasses near an area the locals refer to as red bridge, Finally a swamp in the Bangor forest with its reflections and autumn foliage in the background bring this collection of images to an end.

This project will be ongoing and will be expanded over time and could be extended to include other times of the year.

Other areas of interest could be the impact on the environment of tourism and the effects of cruise ships on an island economy.
